Our Story
“Little Liberty Creamery was born out of necessity, an answer to the call for small scoop of comfort for a sleep deprived mother of a screaming refluxing new born. ”
Never was there a word more clearly said than those. Like many parents our brand founders were thrown headfirst into the world of allergies and dietary restrictions that appeared unexpectedly throughout their life journey.
Our goal is to continue with the ethos that they established while creating Little Liberty - using top quality ethical ingredients, which support local producers, celebrate diversity and individuality.
While at the same time working alongside and immersing ourselves into our communities.
We look forward to meeting you and welcome you on this journey with us.

The Heart Behind Little Liberty Creamery
Peita Kensington, the visionary owner of Little Liberty Creamery, has always had a knack for recognising and seizing opportunities. When COVID-19 hit, Peita found herself in lockdown in a townhouse in Southwest, London. This unexpected pause gave her the chance to reflect and reconnect with what truly mattered. Realising it was time for a change, she decided to return to her roots in New Zealand.
One day, while catching up with her friend Rebecca, Peita was introduced to Little Liberty Creamery for the first time. She was instantly captivated by the delicious, Dairy Free, plant-based ice cream. As they savoured the flavours, Rebecca shared her personal story. Her daughter, who is Dairy Free, had always struggled to find suitable ice cream options. Little Liberty had been a game-changer for her family, providing a delectable and safe treat. This conversation opened Peita's eyes to the daily challenges faced by those with dietary restrictions and the importance of having options.
When the founders of Little Liberty decided to sell the business, Rebecca approached Peita with a bold idea: why not buy it together? In February 2022, they took the leap and purchased Little Liberty Creamery, reopening the beloved scoop store in its original courtyard on Matai Street.
Fast forward two years, and Rebecca made the decision to focus on her nursing career. She sold her half of the business to Peita, leaving her as the sole owner of Little Liberty Creamery.
Today, Peita continues to champion the cause, creating delicious, inclusive Dairy Free ice cream that brings joy to those with dietary restrictions and beyond. Her journey is a testament to the power of friendship, the importance of empathy, and the impact one person can have on a community.
